WIN helps prepare our participants for the work world through job-readiness training.
SHRM mentorship program
The participants are each paired with a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) mentor and meet with them at least twice a month. The mentors coach participants in preparing a resume, mock job interviews, workplace behavior, work ethics, and more.
In the second part of our program, participants take short-term positions with employers in the community, in work fields of interest to them.
…In health care
While participant Elizabeth is completing coursework to be a certified nursing aide, at Allied Health Care Training, she is getting additional on-the-job training at Clear Path Hospice.
…In office work
Two participants were placed at Episcopal Social Services, to help organize and enter data into the program’s new food ministry data tracking system.
Afterward, their ESS supervisor said:
“These women were essential to the initial organization of the registration demographics. They were both reliable and required minimal supervision and training. I gladly invite any interested WIN participants to explore the idea of completing work experience hours in our organization and hope to work with more in the future.”
Work experience sites also are wanted in retail locations, restaurants, or manufacturing facilities.
If you are an employer interested in being a work experience site, please contact Amber Beck at 316-262-3960.
